Drung Hill is a 640m tall hill in an area called Mountain Stage, between Kells and Glenbeigh. It is best known for the railway tunnels part of the former Farranfore to Valencia railway that cut through the lower slopes of the mountain – they are clearly visible form the Ring of Kerry road. I checked it out and it did not disappoint!
Valentia Island lies at the western edge of Europe, and at the very edge of the island you’ll find Bray Head. A 6 km looped walk has been set out here, and Apache and I decided to check it out.
Coomcallee is the iconic mountain that towers over Lough Currane behind quaint Waterville. Ever since moving down to this area I’ve been wanting to check it out. And, since the last time I posted about a hike on my blog dates back to October, it was about time.
