
McCarthy Mór Tower, also known as Ballinskelligs Castle, is a 16th century tower house overlooking Ballinskelligs Bay.
The McCarthy Mórs were a clan who ruled South Kerry and Cork at the time, and the tower house was used to protect the bay and possibly to levy tariffs on incoming trade.
